In preparation for Miami’s Winter Music Conference, our friends at Hotfingers have a treat in store for us…

With a selection of hot house tracks, Hotfingers Miami Compilation is designed for the dancefloors of the WMC. At the top of the compilation, Luigi Rocca & Federico Scavo’s Hot (below) could be the soundtrack to the conference: it’s cool, funky, addictive house music. Tracks like Alessio Caforio’s El Grido push the party theme; its rolling beat and Latin rhythms are the sounds of a fiesta. Similarly, PHNTM vs. Brain First’s Even Odds combines a catchy melody and snippets of vocals with a thundering bass to get people dancing. For a darker take on this theme, Edward’s Francisca La Loca employs Lenny X’s slightly menacing, rambling vocals and merges them with a harder beat and techy sounds. These are out and out party tracks.

The compilation also contains some tracks which allude to the diversity of sound and styles within the house genre. Federico Scavo’s huge remix of Josh Feedblack & Claudio Barracu’s One More Time adds more texture to the track, with a big beat and contrasting and emotive vocals. J Nitti & Sergio Sergi’s Save uses a heavy beat and cold rhythms to inject a hint of darkness to the proceedings, which contrasts perfectly with tracks like BLAXX’s Marvin Gay. Blaxx’s track lays a trancy melody over the techy pops and bleeps of the percussion; the vocals cut through all this – an organic sound in a sea of synthetic elements. Yet, the compilation would not be complete without tracks that bring it all back to the origins, such as Luthier’s The Rock, a deep and winding track with elements of classic house. In the same vein, J Nitti’s The Touch uses 90s-inspired house vocals and classic piano chords, precisely placed over a slick beat. There certainly is something for everyone!

With tracks from Hotfingers regulars and new names for us to watch out for, Hotfingers Miami Compilation is the perfect start to a sun-drenched WMC. And, if you’re lucky enough to be in Miami during the conference, you can catch Manuel de la Mare and Alex Kenji on the decks at the Electric Splash Rooftop Party on Saturday 23rd March.

Hotfingers Miami Compilation is released on Friday 8th March.
